Order for Reading Canons Alone

Before beginning any rule of prayer, the following reverences are made — prostrations or bows — called The Seven-Bow Beginning:1. O God, be merciful to me a sinner. Bow.2. O God, cleanse me a sinner and have mercy on me. Bow.3. O Lord, Thou didst create me — have mercy on me. Bow.4. Without number have I sinned, O Lord, forgive me. Bow.5. My God and my Lord, I have sinned against Thee, have mercy on me. Bow.6. O Lord, I have sinned before Thee in many ways, forgive me. Bow.7. O God, do Thou forgive and have mercy on me, a sinner. Bow.Then: O Heavenly King; Trisagion; Our Father; Lord have mercy, twelve times; Glory... Both now...; O come let us worship, thrice; and the appointed Psalms or Canon.
